Playground 7

Thomas and Anna had a busy day on Friday 30th but managed a visit to our local "Wibbly Wobbly" playground (at Lincoln Barn) before bedtime. Thomas and Anna have named all our local playgrounds - the Wibbly Wobbly playground is named after the 4 way seesaw thing. We are lucky in having 3 little playgrounds within 5 minutes walk from home, plus Oldbury Court playground about a miles walk.

Thomas and Anna are now in Chepstow with their grandparents till Sunday night, hopefully visiting at least 2 playgrounds.

More Playground 6

Not strictly in the playground but still in the fantastic Kingsgate Park. They did spend about 2 hours in the playground before visiting the lake and then climbing trees and exploring Fire Engines.

Feeding the ducks (and feeding themselves!)

The lake is right next to the playground, and we always feed the ducks after an extended visit to the playground first.

Notice the position of the hands - they fed themselves a little too!

More Playground 6

Couldn't resist adding some more photos of Kingsgate Park. We were there for 3 hours after all. Here is Anna!

Playground 6

Playground 6, on Thursday 29th July was Kingsgate Park in Yate, probably our favourite playground in South Glos. We had 3 hours of fun, shared with 3 of Thomas' friends from school and their mums and siblings. Thanks everyone for coming!
Kingsgate Park has a fantastic range of things to play on and the part in the trees is especially good. There is also a lake. We also had a fire engine to explore yesterday, but that was a bonus.

Playground 5

Playground 5 was Fishponds Playground near St Mary's Church. A basic playground but useful for combining with the shops. We visited the bakers first as we felt in need of an early lunch, and we enjoyed a picnic in the park. Thomas and Anna were torn between eating and playing so they alternated between the two!

Playground 4

We visited playground 4 at the Mall on Tuesday 27th. Thomas had some birthday money to spend and we usually visit the playground when we visit the Mall. The playground isn't that great for children under 18 months but is good for others.

Playground 3 Bath Park

Simon was off work today (monday 26th July) so we had a family visit to Bath Park, including a picnic. Thomas and Anna loved the playground and the park itself. It was good to have 2 adults today as it's such a big play area it's easy to lose the kids if you're not careful. Definately one of the best playgrounds within easy reach.

Playground 2

Playground 2 was a little playground off Westerleigh Road on Sunday 25th July. We have driven past it loads of times since Thomas started school nearly 3 years ago. Thomas kept asking to explore it but we're usually on the way to Sainsburys so the answer has always been no. Clever Thomas realised now was the time to finally visit it. You can see by his face he was really pleased. It had a couple of things we thought were really good, including this see-saw Thomas is on.

Playground 1 Saturday 24th July

The quest has begun - day 1 Oldbury Court Playground. This playground has always been a favourite of ours. The old playground was great but the new one, opened in April 2010, is even better.

Hopefully we will be in the Evening Post on Monday or Tuesday next week - anything to try and raise more money for Unicef. Unfortunately they may print our ages...

Online Donations

Our Unicef fundraising page for online donations is now up and running. 100% of our online fundraising goes straight to Unicef, which is great.

I have just made a small donation to check it works and it is very easy and quick to use. If you would like to donate, please use Gift Aid if you can. Thanks, Anne-Marie.

Tuesday 13 July 2010

Welcome to the Holland Family 40 playgrounds in 40 days blog 2010. We decided we'd like to use Thomas and Anna's love of playgrounds to raise some money for Unicef.

We'd love people to sponsor Thomas and Anna to visit 40 different playgrounds in 40 days over the summer holidays, starting on Saturday 24th July and ending on Wednesday September 1st.

Although Thomas and Anna love playgrounds, even they will probably find 40 in 40 days hard work, and Simon and I certainly will!

Thank you for your interest. We will be updating the blog every time they visit a playground, including playgrounds in Surrey and Devon. Information on how to donate to Unicef will be posted soon.
